Visual Art

Shelley Anderson: Photographer

Shelley Anderson started as a photographer at age 15 when she borrowed her dad's camera to take her first black and white photography class. She quickly realized that photography was to become a lifelong passion, and she continued her training in photojournalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Shelley's training in composition and photojournalism influences how she tells the unique story of her subjects. She is dedicated to shooting black and white film and printing in the darkroom as an artistic release from everyday life. Shelley combines pinhole and medium format photography and film to create non-traditional and distorted images through a fundamental method of image capture. Shelley believes that photography is a means to see the past, live in the present and conceptualize the future.
